Mieka

Purling Brook Falls was the location of this shoot with a gorgeous model named Mieka. For an old guy like me it was quite a trek ,especially coming back from the falls but it was well worth the time and effort! While Mieka was battling leaches, I was battling fatigue!!

I had never been to the falls so it all new to me and I had no idea how far the falls were or how long it would take to get there. We got a lot of fantastic photos and the falls were beautiful….

Travelling muse....

Mia, shot on the Gold Coast. The first set was shot in our garden, using the pergola and a few sheets hung from the beams. We also used the little pathway to the garden gate. The second set was shot in a park along Hope Island Road. We scrambled through some bush and found a great spot with beautiful light.

The BOSS....!

This was a great shoot with the beautiful and very good looking Grace. We first shot in the secret garden in Perth and afterwards, drove to the city and shot a series of suited up bosslady! We shot some great photos along the walk, outside the courts and then outside a city church. Well, we did for a while until we were frowned upon by the priest…. But we got a lot of beautiful photos of a true beauty.

I cannot wait to escape with Grace again into our next photo shoot!

Grace

Water sprites three....

These three girls are just poetry in motion. Grace, Claire and Noni were my models for the day and we used Grace`s swimming pool for a bit of underwater fun. We let the dappled light from the sun do it`s thing and had the girls swim around and create a bit of magic. We had a few flowers thrown in the pool and they created a great effect.

I researched a lot on different underwater housings and eventually decided on Aquatech for my Sony A7RII camera. Thanks go to Camera Electronic in Perth city for helping out with the glitch I had. Everything worked out great and I think we had a lot of fun in the process.

The hardest part of the shoot was me trying to stay underwater! I thought with my tummy I`d sink like a stone….

My next mission is to get my diving ticket so I can stay down longer.

Nicole in Old Onslow.

Who would have thought that in the middle of nowhere, I would manage to find such a gem? Nicole lives in Onslow on the West Australian coast and I was fortunate enough to shoot her on my free day. We drove to the original Onslow which had only the remains of the police station and gaol. We wandered around the ruins and used the afternoon light to create a series of photos. We used the shadows of a palm tree on the west side to create patterns across Nicole`s face and highlight her beautiful eyes.

We shot the whole series using only the police station. I had wandered through the gaol earlier and had an eerie feeling as I gazed at the eye bolt set in the centre of the cell. Looking at the grated opening set at ground level, I could only imagine how harsh and unforgiving the conditions must have been in those days. As we were shooting, Nicole`s two sisters, Tarryn and Nikeeta had the beat box playing softly. Over the music, Nikeeta was singing in the most beautiful voice and it just had this surreal effect on the whole experience.

So out of hardship and with the help of ghosts from the past, I was blessed to have been a part of something mysterious and beautiful.
